A LITTLE SUNSHINE AT THE TEA TABLE: LEMON GINGER SCONES

There’s a certain time of day at the Westbrook Inn when the house exhales.

The morning bustle has softened, the afternoon light stretches across the tables just so, and the kettle hums gently in the background. It’s in these moments that we like to bring out something comforting, something bright, something that feels like a small kindness on a plate.

That’s where our Lemon Ginger Scones come in.

A Favorite for Afternoon Tea

These scones have quietly become a staple at our afternoon tea table. The citrusy lift of fresh lemon zest paired with the gentle warmth of ginger feels like sunshine tucked into a pastry, cheerful without being too sweet, cozy without feeling heavy.

They’re especially lovely during the colder months, when winter lingers, and we all crave a reminder that brighter days are ahead. And come spring, they feel right at home alongside fresh flowers and long conversations.

A Make-Ahead Treat We Love

One of our favorite things about this recipe is how practical it is. We often make these scones by the dozen and tuck them away in the freezer. When the afternoon calls for something special, all it takes is a warm oven and a little patience. Fresh-baked comfort, ready just when you need it.
