Discover Chester

Just 6 miles from Westbrook, on the scenic shores of the Connecticut River, Chester offers favorite summer moments. Discover the wish phone, an old English phone booth, where you dial for wishes. Or take the Hadlyme Ferry across the Connecticut River for a historic and scenic five-minute ride, a fun addition to a day at Gillette Castle State Park or on the Essex Steam Train.


Chester highlights include:

  • Chester Farmer's Market: Our favorite local market has fresh produce and local finds every Saturday morning from June to September.
  • Little House Brewing and River Tavern: Try craft brews or savor farm-to-table dining.
  • The Village Bistro, with its Victorian library vibe and interesting menu.
  • Terrace Theater and Hadlyme Ferry: For a mix of arts, history, and scenic serenity.

Friday Night Concert Series:

Starting June 20, take a short stroll to the town green with a lawn chair in hand, and enjoy live music in June and July from 6–8 pm and 5:30-7:39 pm in August and September.
