I have always believed that a stay should feel complete. Not divided. Not designed for one and adjusted for another.


Your dog travels with you. Rests beside you. Watches the world through your rhythm.


So we make space for that.


Over the years, we’ve welcomed so many dogs through our doors. Some arrive curious and confident. Others take a slower path, pausing at thresholds, studying each new corner before deciding.


And I’ve noticed something.


They always find the biscuits first.


A small moment. A shift. The room becomes familiar.


That’s when the stay begins.

I started baking these doggie biscuits years ago, on a quiet afternoon when the inn felt especially still. A guest had arrived with a golden retriever who followed her everywhere, steady and watchful. I wanted to offer him something of his own.


So I went into the kitchen.


What came out was simple. Flour. Peanut butter. Eggs. A little water. Rolled by hand. Cut into imperfect shapes. Baked until the edges turned golden and the room filled with warmth.


I left a few in the room.


The next morning, she told me he had settled in almost immediately.


Since then, the biscuits have stayed.


Not as an extra. As part of the welcome.

Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits

One of the things we cherish most at the Westbrook Inn is welcoming not only our guests but also those who travel with them.


We’ve met so many dogs over the years. Some eager and bright. Some cautious, taking their time. Each one finding their way into the rhythm of the inn in their own way.


These biscuits began as something small. Today, they are a quiet part of every arrival.


The Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups flour
  • ½ cup peanut butter
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ cup water


Instructions:

  1. Mix into dough.
  2. Roll and cut into shapes.
  3. Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes.

Food, in a place like this, carries meaning beyond itself. It reflects the way we care for those who pass through our doors.


These biscuits are simple by design. Made with the same steadiness as the tides just beyond us. Something familiar. Something kind.
